Do You Believe In God?

A brief interview uncovering the possibilities of a deity

Do you believe in God?
MICHAEL
I don’t dismiss the existence of the divine—in fact, I support the idea. But I don’t believe God is the character traditional religion paints Him to be. Instead of looking through ancient texts, I look at the architecture of the cosmos. I view God as a consciousness belonging to a Type-5 civilization on the Kardashev Scale. When an existence reaches a magnitude where it can command reality itself, it becomes completely indistinguishable from a deity. The real question isn’t about faith; it’s about whether a civilization of that scale exists in the deep universe.
MONAD PUBLISHING
That’s a fascinating perspective. Can you explain further—why do you relate the Kardashev Scale to God?
MICHAEL
Because it gives us a rational framework to understand omnipotence. The scale measures the maturity of a civilization by its capacity to master reality. Right now, humanity is still in its infancy—we haven’t even mastered our own home planet. But above us, the universe allows for higher tiers of existence. Imagine entities that can harness entire stars, or balance the forces of an entire galaxy.

If you push that trajectory to its absolute limit—a theoretical Type-5 civilization—you find an existence capable of manipulating the very laws of physics, shifting the boundaries of a multiverse, and creating entirely new universes at will. To a human being, a mind operating at that staggering magnitude is practically all-powerful. It doesn’t need to be a magical exception to the universe; it is the ultimate expression of it.
MONAD PUBLISHING
And do you believe that a Type-5 civilization exists?
MICHAEL
Yes, there is a profound scientific foundation for that probability. If you accept that the cosmos is vast beyond human comprehension, it follows as a matter of logic that other conscious lineages could be millions or billions of years ahead of our own evolutionary track. It is entirely reasonable to conclude that a mind could reach a level of advancement where its baseline actions would appear to us as miraculous or divine. Modern theoretical physics even points directly toward the existence of a multiverse, expanding the limits of what is possible.

Changing direction, in Chapter 9, you discuss right and wrong beliefs—how right beliefs may become wrong over time. What about the idea of believing in yourself?
MICHAEL
Believing in myself is one of the most defining decisions I have ever made. But the deeper, more critical question we have to ask is: *which version of yourself are you choosing to believe in?*

If you believe you can leap off a high bridge without protection and walk away completely unharmed, should you double down on that version of yourself? If you believe you possess a phenomenal singing voice, but your reality shows that no one else can stand to listen to it, is that the illusion you should commit to?

This is a common existential pitfall. Many people fail to distinguish between functional self-confidence and pure psychological delusion. Recognizing that boundary is critical for actual personal evolution. The goal is to consciously strive toward the highest, most authentic version of yourself, ground that version in a healthy mindset, and put your belief entirely into that reality. That is the healthiest, most effective way to believe in yourself.
